Barbour first introduced the Spey in 1981, and this is a genuine revival of that archive piece rather than a rename - a shorter-cut waxed cotton jacket built for exactly the kind of day a wax jacket earns its keep. The 6oz waxed cotton outer is finished with a traditional corduroy collar and throat flap, a cotton tartan lining, and two lower jetted pockets with flaps, each carrying Barbour's tonal embroidery on the wearer's left. A D-ring at the chest is a nod to its fishing and countryside origins, useful for keys or a lanyard even away from the riverbank. It's a genuinely transeasonal layer - light enough to wear as the only outer layer into early autumn, sturdy enough to see out a proper downpour once the weather turns. Worn over a jumper for the school run or with a shirt for something smarter, the shorter length keeps it out of the way rather than swamping the frame, and like any decent wax jacket it only improves with a bit of weather on it.

This is a great store - lovely range of clothes and brands. Well laid out store so easy to find what you’re after or just browse. Friendly and efficient staff make your visit to the store easy and smooth. One of my favourite stores in this much improved area of the city centre.

Never shopped online but the store is spot on. Staff are always friendly, helpful and always up for a chat. You're definitely made to feel comfortable and the service is top notch. Great range of garments and it's amazing to have a place like this locally, no where else really compares in terms of a brick and mortar store for these kind of clothes.

Such a unique shop with with good staff. I met the owner many years ago when he was located in smaller shop and to see how much it has grown the standard is still at the highest point all these years later. I look forward to the 28 mile trip knowing I’m coming back with something every time.

Lovely up to date store with a wonderful array of clothing that fits my style! I’ve been a few times and always ended up finding just what I needed with the help of one of the workers, the young lad - Reuben. It’s definitely my go to shop in the city centre.
